Demolishing Defenses
The Beauty of Vulnerability
Once upon a time, I built a castle so grand,
Walls of stone, so thick and so strong, to withstand.
I thought I was protected, my heart was secure,
But little did I know, my defenses were a lure.
The fortress I built was a cage in disguise,
A place of solitude, a prison for my lies.
I thought I was safe, but my soul was not free,
The walls I built, were a trap, a life without glee.
One day, a light shone, and I saw the truth,
My walls were the cause, of my heart’s uncouth.
I knew it was time, to let down my guard,
To demolish the fortress, and drop the facade.
It wasn’t easy, for each brick held a memory,
Of heartbreak, of pain, of a life not meant to be.
But with each stone, a burden was lifted,
A weight off my heart, my spirit was gifted.
I learned the beauty of vulnerability and trust,
For they opened my heart, and freed it from rust.
Love flourished, where once there was none,
A life worth living, a heart that’s begun.
