A Poem of Separation

The sea between us, vast and wide
The waves, the wind, the mournful tide
Poetry, a barrier we cannot hide
Beware of the fall, our love denied

Heartbreak, a chasm we cannot mend
This love, a bond we cannot defend
Between the rich and poor, it will end
I love you, but it’s a weak trend

Once I loved you, then I hated you
I worshiped you, then cursed you too
I wrote you down, then erased anew
I stuck with you, then shattered through

I created you, then destroyed with glee
Declared you the sun, then changed my decree
Don’t be surprised by my seasonal spree
All gardens have both spring and debris

Snow now stands between us two
What can we do, what can we pursue?
Winter is long, forever anew
Doubt severs bridges, leaving no clue

I love you, how I wish to recall
Those beautiful words, so deep and all
Where do they go, emotions and all?
How do feelings and kisses stall?
