When Love Defies Distance and Despair

In my suitcase, I placed you, my dear,
So from my side, you’d never disappear,
Amid my things, my papers, all I hold near,
And the speech, for the conference, I rehearse in your ear.
Nestled in a nook, ‘mongst my shirts, so clear,
My ties, my raincoat, you had nothing to fear.

At the airport, they took that case away,
With others, it drifted, far astray.
For a brief space-time, you’ll be okay,
Hours in the void, but love will stay.
Clouds won’t part us; our hearts convey,
Love’s spread worldwide, in grand array.
At arrival, my embrace will pay,
To the moon hotel, together we’ll sway.
You shield me from life’s ruthless fray,
From the doldrums that often betray.

I’ve roamed these worldly airports, tight,
Nerves strung like strings, in relentless fight.
The journey stretches, into the night,
Bursting, exploding, with all its might.
Faces upon faces, within my sight,
Whence comes all these people, in flight?
I desire none of…
