Desolate Hopes
Our hearts overflow with desires untold.
Some within reach, while others are far and cold
Small or big, they weigh heavy on our souls
For on this dark night, my heart yearns for just one goal
To lay down and rest, to find peaceful slumber
And escape into dreams of a time I remember
Reliving the moments that have long gone
And reminiscing faces that have faded or moved on
I hope to dream away these burdens of time
And unburden the memories that keep me confined
To erase the thoughts that others have of me
And break free from the shackles that keep me at bay
But in this quiet hour, the worries linger on
And I cannot escape the doubts that make me feel undone
For the morning light only brings more despair
A reminder of all the things that I cannot repair
I hope to find a glimmer of hope in my dreams
A chance to escape the reality that only screams
For my heart is weak, and my mind is weary
And I cannot find the strength to face what lies ahead clearly
