I’ll say to you, “I love you”…
When all old languages of love have been said and done,
And lovers have nothing to say or to become…
That’s when my mission will begin,
To change the stones and patterns of this world,
Tree after tree, planet after planet,
And poem after poem…
I’ll say to you, “I love you”…
And the distance between your eyes and my pages will shrink,
And the air you breathe will pass through my lungs,
And the hand you put on the car seat will be mine…
I’ll say it when I’m able to recall my childhood, my horses, my armies,
And my paper boats…
And to relive the blue time with you on the shores of Baltic Sea,
When you shivered like a fish between my fingers…
And when you fall asleep,
I’ll cover you with starry summer kisses…
I’ll say to you, “I love you”…
And the wheat needs you until it ripens,
And the springs until they burst,
And civilization until it refines,
And the birds, until they…
