Solace in the Storm
A Poem of Love and Longing
My heart asks, where have you been,
As flames of passion smolder within,
I search for you in every madness,
With longing in my heart and steps that quicken pass.
Do I have a place to call my own,
When pain surrounds me, and my heart is flown?
You are my solace and my safe haven,
My purity of meaning, my inspiration.
You are my country and my peace,
A shelter for my heart, when pain does not cease,
I come to you with all my need,
To a chest that aches, and wounds that bleed.
As if I am part of you and you of me,
Embraced in tenderness, my heart set free,
I feel the peace that is bestowed,
And blessed with the best of all bestowed.
I love your face, a sanctuary,
Your voice, a melody of ecstasy,
But even if I lived a life without you,
It would still be incomplete, forever true.
