The Blame Lies with My Mind’s Eye

Subtle imagery of a fading past and the power of imagination to endure

In the stillness of my mind’s eye,
A picture forms before my sight,
I blame my thoughts for bringing it nigh,
With no one present in my plight,
I berate my mind for what it brings to light.

It conjures memories from the past,
Of joyous moments, now long gone,
With each passing day, it seems to last,
And in my heart, it lingers on,
As I look back, I can’t help but mourn.

The corners of my home lie deserted,
Once filled with love and cherished things,
Now only remnants of love, now deserted,
A mere shadow of what it used to bring,
A long-forgotten dream now lingering.

The roses on the table, once in bloom,
Now withered and left to decay,
The grapevine, once lush, now filled with gloom,
With leaves now fading and turning gray,
As my thoughts wander, I feel them betray.
